Broken links hurt visitors and rankings
A link that leads to a missing page (error 404) or to a server error frustrates visitors and wastes the time search engines spend crawling your site. Links break all the time: a partner changes its addresses, a page is deleted, a typo slips into a menu. The checker loads your page, collects its links and tests each one, then lists those that are broken, redirected or in error, with the text of the link so you can find it quickly.
What to do with the results
- 404 or 410: fix the address, link to an equivalent page, or remove the link.
- 500 errors or timeouts: the target server has a problem; check again later before changing anything.
- Redirected links: not an error, but point the link straight to the final address.
- Not checked: some sites refuse automated requests or disallow crawlers; check those links by hand.
Beyond one page
The checker looks at one page at a time, up to 100 links in 30 seconds. Start with your home page, menus and most visited pages. After moving pages, make sure the old addresses redirect properly with the redirect checker, and review the rest of the page with the SEO analyzer. For a complete check of your whole site, our SEO team can run a full audit.

Frequently asked questions
How many links are checked?
Up to 100 different addresses per check, in 30 seconds at most.
Why are some links not checked?
The target site disallows crawlers in its robots.txt, the address is not public, or the 30-second limit was reached. Some social networks also refuse automated requests.
Is a redirected link a problem?
It is not an error, but it is better to point the link straight to the final address.
