VAT rates in Morocco in 2026
Since 1 January 2026, at the end of the reform started by the 2024 Finance Act, Morocco’s General Tax Code (CGI) has only two VAT rates. 20% is the standard rate and applies to most goods and services (article 99-A of the CGI). 10% is the reduced rate, limited to the operations listed in the law (article 99-B). The former 7% and 14% rates were phased out between 2024 and 2026. The “Other rate” option is still useful to check an older invoice.
The formulas used
- Net → gross: gross = net × (1 + rate). At 20%: net × 1.20.
- VAT amount: VAT = net × rate.
- Gross → net: net = gross ÷ (1 + rate). At 20%: gross ÷ 1.20.
Example: a 10,000 MAD service (excluding VAT) at 20% carries 2,000 MAD of VAT, so 12,000 MAD including VAT. The other way round, a 6,000 MAD purchase including VAT is 5,000 MAD net plus 1,000 MAD of VAT. Amounts are rounded to the nearest centime.
The most common mistake
To get the net amount from a price including VAT, do not take 20% off the price: divide it by 1.20. Taking 20% off 12,000 MAD gives 9,600 MAD, while the correct net amount is 10,000 MAD. The calculator converts correctly in both directions.
A helper, not tax advice
This calculator applies formulas. It does not decide which rate applies to your business, nor which operations are exempt. To find out whether an operation falls under the standard rate, the reduced rate or an exemption, refer to the current edition of the CGI published by Morocco’s tax administration (DGI), or ask your accountant.
Automating VAT in your quotes and invoices
If you still work out VAT by hand or in a spreadsheet, business software can do it for you: a rate set per item, a summary per rate, invoices generated from quotes. It is also a useful step before electronic invoicing arrives in Morocco. We build custom invoicing and business software that follows your own rules.

Frequently asked questions
What are the VAT rates in Morocco in 2026?
Two rates: 20%, the standard rate, and 10%, the reduced rate for the operations listed in the tax code. The former 7% and 14% rates were phased out between 2024 and 2026.
How do I get the net amount from a gross amount?
Divide the gross amount by 1 plus the rate: at 20%, divide by 1.20. Do not simply take 20% off the gross amount.
Does the calculator tell me which rate applies to my business?
No. It applies the formulas. The applicable rate and exemptions depend on the tax code: check with Morocco’s tax administration (DGI) or your accountant.
Is my data sent anywhere?
No. The calculation and the PDF invoice are made in your browser.
