Control how your pages look when shared
When someone shares one of your pages on Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp or X, the platform builds a preview from the page’s Open Graph tags: a title, a description and an image. Without them, it guesses, and often picks the wrong image or a menu text. The generator writes the og: tags and the matching Twitter Card tags, and shows an approximate preview of the result.
The essentials
- og:title: a clear title, which can differ slightly from the title tag used by Google.
- og:image: an image of 1200 × 630 px, with a full address (https://…). It is what people notice first.
- og:description: one or two sentences that make people want to click.
- og:url: the reference address of the page, identical to its canonical tag.
After publishing
Platforms keep previews in cache. After changing your tags, ask them to read the page again with the official debugging tools (Facebook Sharing Debugger, LinkedIn Post Inspector). To check the tags already present on a live page, run the SEO analyzer; to describe your business to search engines, add structured data.
