Lighter images, faster pages
Images are usually the heaviest part of a web page, and the main reason why pages load slowly on mobile. WebP, supported by every current browser, produces files that are often 25 to 35% smaller than JPEG at similar visual quality, and much smaller than PNG for photos. The converter also resizes oversized pictures: a 4000-pixel-wide photo straight from a camera is wasted on a page that displays it at 1200 pixels.
How to use it
- Drop up to 20 images: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF (first frame) or BMP.
- Choose the quality: 80 suits most photos; go down to 70 for large background images.
- Choose a maximum width: 1920 px for full-width images, 1200 px for images in the content.
- Download each file or all of them, and compare the size saving in the table.
Privacy and limits
Conversion runs entirely in your browser with the canvas API: your images never leave your computer. Some versions of Safari cannot encode WebP; use Chrome, Edge or Firefox in that case. Once your images are lighter, measure the effect with the website speed test. For a site where every image is optimised automatically, see our website development services.

Frequently asked questions
Do all browsers support WebP?
Yes, every current browser displays WebP. A few older versions of Safari cannot create WebP files, which is why the converter suggests Chrome, Edge or Firefox in that case.
Which quality should I choose?
75 to 85 suits most photos. Check the result visually: below 70, artefacts may appear on detailed images.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The conversion runs in your browser; nothing is sent over the internet.
